What is Espresso?

Espresso is a drink made by a coffee extraction process developed in Italy in 1901. It is traditionally made by forcing 1.5 ounces of boiling water through 7 grams of finely ground, darkly roasted coffee beans at a pressure of 9Bar (about 126psi) for 20-30 seconds. The result is a rich, dark, creamy coffee liquor that is the basis for cappuccinos, lattes and other espresso drinks or that may be consumed alone.
